Popping pills to pay the bills!
Sunday, 28 June 2009 13:45

I've been in Vegas for about a month now and think I could get used to living out here. I've been beating the 5/10 and 10/20 cash games down at the Bellagio and Rio for small chunks this week and got completely out of the 20k hole that I managed to create through tournaments. I've also been doing well in the $525 sit and go's down at the Rio and cleaning up on most of the side bets I put out. Still can't cash in a live tournament though>Y$?J£{":!£<

I moved into a new apartment this week at the Meridian Resort which is really nice and spacious with most of the things I need in 1 spot. I've also had a few big nights out this week at Tao and LAX and obv a few trips to Sapphires. We went to a party at Neil Channing and the Blackbelt crews MTV cribs style mansion a little out of town. Somehow I managed to lose $1400 in side bets in a $100 sit and go! My living expenses just skyrocketed as I just had to drop $3k on emergency dental work. Who would have thought that McDonalds pancake syrup could cause so much pain?!?!? I can only function now after taking about 10 different pills but can't drink anymore...sigh! These pills have me all messed up in the head at the moment but I never want to experience that pancake pain again. The party is over for now and hopefully I will be back to normal and out of pain by the start of the Main Event!

The 5/10 cash game at the Rio is definitely the best for value as there is no cap on what you can sit with and you can straddle from the button. I witnessed a really strange pot at my table that I don't think would happen in many other casinos. I picked up on the action from the river where an old southern American guy bets $1500 into a pot of about $2500 on a board of 5s 8s 5c 2d 7d. His young American opponent jumps out of his seat and starts circling his chair and looking very distressed about having to call the bet. After 5 minutes the American kid grabs $1000 in bills and throws them into the pot. The old guy says "good call" and tables his hand of Qs 6s for the missed flush draw. The kid looked relieved and proudly showed his A 5 to the table before throwing it into the muck. Unfortunately the dealer missed the kid show his hand and said that the old guy has the only live hand even though others at the table saw the hand. The floorman was called over and the situation was explained which led the floorman to go and check the video tapes for confirmation. The kid was warned that if the tape showed his hand did not touch the table his hand would be declared dead and the old southern guy would win the pot. The old guy offered to split the pot with the kid or go with the decision of the floorman. The kid refused and then the floorman returned to say that his hand was indeed dead as it never touched to table face up! The dealer pushes the +$5k pot over to the old man but the kid still owes $500 to the pot. This is when it all started to kick off!!! A bunch of security guards come down as the arguments were getting intense and the kid refused to concede the pot or pay the extra $500. I felt sorry for the kid because he clearly showed his cards and I saw a similar situation at the Bellagio a week ago where the winning hand was pulled from the muck and the pot was awarded to the winning hand. The old guy even gets involved and say "you owe $500, you made a mistake, pay me my money and let's get on with the game!" I told the old guy that he shouldn't even look at the kid let alone speak to him if he is going to rob him of +$5k on a technicality. In the end the kid was going to be arrested, banned from the Rio and made to pay anyways...so after 1 hour of arguments he paid the man and left. Then the old southern guy says with clinched fists "don't worry, he was always gonna pay, one way or another he was gonna pay!"
