I went to the best nightclub ever on Friday night to let off some steam after another baron week at the tables. XS at Encore was highly recommended to me by some friends and believe me it exceeded all expectations! It makes the top London clubs feel like tiny dingy basements (which most of them are!) Me and Steve Watts joined a VIP table with Antonio Esfandiari, Sorel Mizzi, Jon Tabatabai and Durrr, but spent most of the night outside playing "What Lodden thinks?" with Sorel. It's a great game to play in a club and leads to all sorts of other crazy side bets and prop bets. I ended up down 200 in the end which is not bad at all based on how much I was down at one point plus he had a slight edge on a few questions in the game by being Canadian! It also reminded me of how dumb the average American girl is! I was pretty annoyed that my camera had been stolen because we bumped into Ronaldinho on Friday night, who was ballin with a bunch of hot chicks! We decided to go again on Saturday night and bumped into £80m man, Cristiano Ronaldo who was just chilling in the VIP with his agent (no doubt hiding in Vegas until the heat blows over). It was strange because if it was any club in the UK or Europe for that matter, he would be swarmed by tonnes of people.
Well poker wise, I have played another WSOP event, 2 Bellagio 1k's, a Venetian deep stacked event and a load more cash more cash games. Still no cashes yet so I've decided to slow down a bit on tourneys as my book shows that I'm in for nearly $15k, and my stop loss is set at -$20k! That doesn't even include luxury tax (ballin expenses) out here but if I complained about that I'd deserve to be shot! I know I could steadily take around $500 a day off the cash tables if I grinded properly but the problem is I am only playing cash games immediately after busting out of tournaments and therefore slightly on tilt. If I hit that magical number of -$20k I will probably fly home but I am soooooooo overdue a deep run in a tournament it's unreal. It's been a week of losing a lot of races and blowing up decent positions by firing 3 barrels and emptying my clip against calling stations who would never fold (especially to me!). After raising pre-flop and firing the flop and the turn, it's hard to just knuckle the table and give up the pot sometimes (especially when I know the guy is too weak to call a shove!). The mistake I have been making is trying to make my story too believable and betting for value on the end, rather than shoving to exert maximum pressure on the guys. I guess you can't win every pot you enter though. I had a semi deep run in the WSOP 1500 pot limit event and played great to have above average chips all the way through tournament but finished short of the money on day 1. I was cruising until I made 1 good bluff turned bad and 1 bad squeeze to leave me short stacked. I couldn't win a race to get back into it and finished in 90-something place when 63 got paid. Congratulations to JP who won the Event and shipped the first UK bracelet this year! I've recently got into the bad habit of busting out of a tourney and heading straight for the casino pit now instead of the cash games. Been playing Blackjack and other house games like a degenerate!!! Played quite high the other day and managed to spin up $5k in a couple of hours! A host at the Venetian approached me to have a free room at the Palazzo/Venetian if I continue to play those stakes! Even though I'm up in the games, it's definitely not a good idea to play so high and some good advice from some friends has caused me to put down some side bets that I won't play again for the rest of the trip! A few of us went for a meal at B&B's at the Palazzo. It is meant to be a high end Italian restaurant and was quite expensive but the service however was terrible and the food was a 6.9 at best. I had shared the $120 steak with Matt who is a steak connoisseur which was one of the best steaks I have had but he was not too impressed. The lobster Spaghetti was great and healthily portioned too. I love fine dining and was really disappointed by the number of mistakes they made during our dining experience. The Double-Double meal @ In and Out Burger ftw every time!!! lol Think I'm going to go and do some shopping now as I can't be bothered to work out how the washing machine works and need some new garments anyways...
