I was planning on writing a blog bitching about how it took 24hrs to Las Vegas from London! I was also going to complain about my flight delays and having to play elbow wars for 6 hrs against a small Italian woman for an armrest! But now that I'm in Vegas I have simply chosen to delete the 29th of May 2009 from my memory and replace it with the lesson: ALWAYS FLY DIRECT!!!
Well now I'm here in the blazing heat, I am ready to focus on Poker 100%. I have penciled in between 10 - 15 WSOP events and some side events at other venues. I will be playing most of the NL Holdem events that are <$2k, but may play some bigger 6-max events as I prefer short-handed play.
Today I decided to get a bunch of admin out of the way and then register for some of the upcoming tournaments at the Rio. As I was walking back I heard a woman yell "1 seat left in a $525 sit-and-go" so I decide to jump in. I had no clue about the blind or payout structure and later found out it was a winner take all satellite for tournament entries. Wasn't too worried though as I didn't recognize any of the players at the table, until the elderly guy to my right broke out some wrist bling in the form of a WSOP bracelet. I cruised through the table and refused any deals both 3-handed and heads-up to ship the $5k prize! A welcome start to the trip and hopefully will provide some momentum going forward. Anyways, I was 10th on the list for the cash game at the Bellagio about an hour ago so better make a move. I will be playing Event #4: $1k NL Holdem tomorrow so will update on that later... Peace
